Granola Bar Recipes

Granola Crunch Bars

They taste like candy bars, but have the added nutrition of granola.

Shopping List:
1 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 table spoons honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla*
2 cups Nature's Hand granola

What to do:
In 8-inch square pan, melt butter. Stir in remaining ingredients, mixing well. Press evenly in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until bubbly in center and lightly brown. Cool. If desired, frost with 1/4 cup chocolate pieces melted with 2 tablespoons peanut butter. Chill to set frosting; cut into bars. (About 24 bars)


Cherry Crunch Bars

Shopping List:
½ cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3  cup firmly packed brown sugar
¾ cup unsifted flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups Nature's Hand granola
1   can (21 oz.) prepared cherry pie filling
¼ teaspoon almond extract
1   tablespoon lemon juice

What to do:
Combine butter and sugar; blend in flour, salt and granola.  Press 2/3 of mixture in ungreased 8 or 9 inch square pan.  Combine pie filling, extract and lemon juice.  Spoon onto mixture in pan, spreading to cover.  Crumble remaining granola mixture over top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly in center.  Serve warm or cold, cut into squares and topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
